Hazel Carter, Lynn Hatton and neighbours, Hollings Terrace, 1955

The children from Hollings Terrace used to go ‘chumping’ for Bonfires (scavenging for items to burn). This was a highly competitive activity with neighbouring streets – Lynn’s mother used to guard stockpiled wood at night so neighbours didn’t steal their hoard.
