Emma Gemima, known as Ricky, was a part of The Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) – the women’s branch of the British Army during World War II. This is where she received the name ‘Ricky’, the Americans she met thought Emma Gemima was quite old fashioned. She was later Christened as Ricky.
