Dzidra Busevics and Ladies Committee, Latvian Club, 1998
A conference for Ladies Committees from around the country was held at the Latvian Club in 1990 – the women joked that they all looked like penguins on the day.
Women played an important role in keeping Latvian clubs and culture thriving, and without these groups, many clubs wouldn’t have survived as long as they did. Many Latvian Clubs have now closed, but as of 2025, Bradford Latvian Club is only one of three in the country still thriving.
