Opscars Award Ceremony, City Hall, 2010

Zulekha Begum receiving an Opscars Award from Lord Mayor Peter Hill at Bradford’s City Hall in 2010.

Zulekha’s award was in recognition of her ‘contribution to community and neighbourhood’. Zulekha became involved in Bradford’s ‘Seniors Show the Way’ network, learning new skills enabling her to run community glass painting and relaxation events. She has visited retirement homes across the district to lead glass painting sessions, and champions connection to help beat isolation in older people’s communities.
