The Grinbergs, Zvirgzdins, Dambitis, Stalazs and Zvaigzne families, Whetley Grove, 1957
This photograph was taken at the Christening of Laimons Grinbergs.
Eight Grinbergs family members lived in this two bedroom house, including Dzintra Grinberg’s immediate family and her Aunt and Uncle. The attic was used as an extra bedroom and work space for Dzintras Aunt who was a textile mender, huge rolls of cloth would be carried upstairs to for her to work with.
Laima, Dzintra’s mother, insisted that Dzintra had ringlets in her hair for every special occasion, she would make her sleep with tight ribbons in her hair to create the ringlets.
